Rooms with high ceilings can be tricky to furnish. The brief was to stop this cavernous room from feeling empty and to connect it with the architectural style of the rest of the house. We needed a statement that could handle the scale of the roof apex without looking like a hotel lobby.
We went bold. We clad the entire double-height media wall in black ash slats. It draws your eye right up to the ceiling, turning a standard TV wall into a dramatic structural statement. It creates a focal point that holds the room together.
The design plays a clever game of hide and reveal. The slatted wall works hard to hide the domestic reality, wires and tech vanish entirely behind the wood. But look down at the cool terrazzo floor and you’ll see a structural glass panel looking straight down into a spiral wine cellar. It’s a proper piece of theatre.
Paired with low-slung furniture and high-end audio, this room is a masterclass in stealth luxury.
