Sometimes pantries are dark cupboards where jars of sauce go to expire. We wanted to avoid that trap completely. The brief was to create a storage space that adds character to the kitchen rather than just being a hole in the wall.
The client installed a crittal style door. It physically separates the food storage from the main kitchen, keeping the clutter contained, but visually keeps the sightlines open. Inside, we used natural oak open shelving against soft off-white closed cabinetry and a useful worktop area. Crucially, the shelves are shallow, meaning you can see everything at a glance, transforming a standard storage space into a masterclass in organisation.
Anchored by a rugged grey flagstone floor and flooded with natural light from the window, this space has become a functional and attractive display case for groceries and small appliances.
