The Brief

This kitchen was designed to make a statement. We wanted to show that a kitchen can be dark and serious without feeling oppressive. It’s a design for people who aren’t afraid of the dark.

Paint It Black

People get nervous about black. They worry it will make the room look small. But when executed correctly, contrasted against crisp white stone worktops, it doesn’t shrink the room; it anchors it. It adds a level of drama you just can’t get with safe neutrals.

The Details

It looks tough on the outside, but the mood softens the second you open a drawer. The interiors are crafted from oak. It’s a tactile surprise that reminds you this is proper furniture, made the right way.

The Range

If you’re going to build a kitchen this confident, you can’t put a lightweight oven in it. We installed a Wolf Dual Fuel Range, the heavyweight champion of cookers. While Wolf is famous for its iconic red knobs, we consciously chose the stainless-steel finish here. It was a deliberate move to ensure the hardware didn’t distract from the dark, sophisticated cabinetry.

The Finished Kitchen

This is a kitchen for the client who is done with playing it safe.
